We luv Philadelphia Runner

We here at PhillyHealthWatch love the folks over at Philadelphia Runner.  Why? Because we love to run ourselves.  Running is without a doubt one of the greatest exercises/activities that a person can take part in.  It will absolutely burn a boat load of calories, build very desirable lean muscle mass, and increase our vo2 max (the ability to take in more oxygen). All of this, obviously, make us much healthier beings. But, there’s another reason we love running so much, and it has nothing to do with physical fitness. Running is awesome because it connects our modern day souls with those of our ancient ancestors.  There is nothing on this earth that is as primitive as running. Humans have had to run to hunt for food, run to get from one place to another in a short amount of time, and run from the many dangers of a wild and primitive planet earth.  We ran to survive as a species. It is literally in our ancestral DNA to run. We were born to do it.  So, in this new planet of  iphones, groupons, and twitters, that are changing our very genetic make up, lets stay true to our primitive selves. And maybe, if we run enough, the human race will continue to survive.

We wanted to thank everyone over at Philadelphia Runner for supplying us with all of our running needs.  They have some great activities to get involved with this week.  Tomorrow night they have an AWESOME Ladies Night at their new Glen Eagle Square store! This involves great giveaways and awesome partners to make it a fun night for women. Check out their website for more info.

They have a great Triathlon Training Clinic at Center City store tomorrow evening as well!! It is sponsored by Nathan Sports, an awesome Philly based hydration and triathlon accessories company. This clinic is great for those people training for the upcoming women’s and open triathlons in Philly!
